Paul Joseph Zollar, 81, of Minneapolis, passed on December 31, 2021. He was born on July 12, 1940 in Ambrose, North Dakota.
He is preceded in death by parents Mildred and Frank Zollar; sisters Tresa Miller and Barbara Kersting; and brother Timothy Zollar. Paul is survived by wife, Karen; sons Peter and Andrew; daughter in-law Yumi; grandchildren, Cole, Elisa, Ture and Gianluca. He is also survived by brothers, Robert and Richard Zollar and sisters-in-law, Noreen and Nadine.
Paul had fond and loving memories of growing up in the upper level of the Soo Line train depot in Cogswell, North Dakota where his father worked as the depot agent.
Following undergraduate studies at the University of North Dakota, he served for two years in the Peace Corps in Tortum, Turkey. Paul received his Masters Degree at the University of Minnesota. He retired from Minneapolis public schools where he worked as an English teacher, Guidance Counselor and Athletic Director.
Paul greatly enjoyed golfing, skiing, woodworking and biking. He was a parishioner at Church of the Incarnation in Minneapolis. Paul liked classical and jazz music, trumpet in particular, as he had played trumpet into early adulthood.
His grandchildren had wonderful times playing with him and he always had time to throw the baseball or football with them. Paul was a gentle and kind soul. He was a great father, grandfather and husband and will be missed deeply. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at a later date.
