John Taylor (T-16)

June 8, 1944 – May 8, 2014

John Taylor (T-16) passed away in Perth, Western Australia, on May 8, 2014, exactly a month before his 70th birthday, following a long battle with colon cancer. After his two years in the Peace Corps teaching Freshman English at METU in Ankara, John spent a year in Tehran teaching English at the university there before returning to the U.S. to do graduate work in political science at the University of Chicago. In 1980, he moved to Australia, where he got interested in Anthroposophy (the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner) and was inspired to train as a Steiner Waldorf teacher in New Zealand. After teaching at a Waldorf school in NZ for three years, he returned to Australia and for twenty years was a class teacher at various Waldorf schools in Perth. He continued to teach up to within a few months of his death. John leaves behind two sons by his third wife, Stephen and Joseph.
