Jo passed away from complications from multiple myeloma, after many years in remission, on May 5, 2006 in Racine, Wisconsin where she had taught for 25 years following her Peace Corps service in Turkey.

Jo was in the nursery school teachers group of Turkey II.  She spent both years in Zonguldak and then returned to Racine WI to continue her teaching career.
