Fred Bueche (T-4)

August 12, 1923 – April 17, 2015

Frederick Joseph Bueche, 91, of Port Charlotte, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at South Port Square ALF in Port Charlotte, FL.  He was born on August 12, 1923 in Flushing, MI to Bernard and Margaret (Reckart) Bueche.

After receiving a B.S. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math and Education from the Univ. of Michigan, he became a teaching and research assistant in physics at Cornell. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell. As a postdoctoral researcher there, he became a leader in the field of Polymer Science. During professorships at the Universities of Wyoming, Akron and Dayton; he had nearly 100 refereed research papers published along with several text books. Dr. Bueche also spent two years in Turkey with the Peace Corps. He was elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

In 1973 he became happily married to Phyllis Burleson Bueche, his youngest brother’s widow. At that time he left University work and became a text book author full time. Throughout his entire life he was active in volunteer work, trying to fill needs as he encountered them.

Fred leaves behind his two loved stepdaughters: Nancy Bueche and Darlene Bueche. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in April 2010.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:30 PM at South Port Square (Gable West Lobby) 23013 Westchester Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33980. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Flint, MI at a later date.
