Belinda Briggs Asano (T-7)

NEW CASTLE, NH – Belinda Briggs Asano, 60, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Massachusetts General Hospital from breast cancer.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1943 in Rome, New York. After training at Mass General Hospital Nursing School and later joining the Peace Corps and serving in Turkey, she married Sam (Shintaro) Asano in 1971.

They moved to Concord, Mass., and lived there until 1997 when they moved to New Castle. She practiced as an RN at Mass General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital and later became a nursing instructor at Boston College, Fitchburg State College and Middlesex Community College.

She was one of the first recipients of a pediatric nursing practitioner license.

She is survived by her husband and her four children, Douglas and his wife Alexi of Hanover, N.H., Evan of San Francisco, Calif., Claudia of Cambridge, Mass., and Matthew of San Francisco, Calif.
