Kristine Marie Kononen (T-8)

Kristine Marie Kononen, age 71, of Fairfax, Virginia passed away December 8, 2014 from metastatic breast cancer. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 31 in Virginia. If you will be attending we ask that you bring any stories, memories, photos and an appetizer to share. Kris was a most interesting person. She loved a good time, the movies, singing and visiting casinos. She was a loyal friend with a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Kris was born in Tacoma, Washington, graduated from Gonzaga University and then entered the Peace Corps where she spent two years in Ă‡orum, Turkey. As a lover of current affairs and politics she settled in Washington, DC. after the Peace Corps. In 1974 she was on the Impeachment and Inquiry staff of the House Judiciary Committee and afterwards was Congresswoman Bella Abzug’s personal secretary for six years. She worked for several law firms in D.C. among them Zimmer, Egge and Sisk, then Robert Zimmer and finally Nixon Peabody.

She is survived by her cousins, William Canning, Marla Farnes, Diane LeDesma, and Bonnie DuPage.
