Robert Kennedy McBride was born on January 18, 1943 in Laramie, Wyoming to Robert W. and Marie McBride. He grew up and went to school in Buffalo, Wyoming and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1961. In high school, Bob was a letterman in football, basketball and track. Bob was offered academic and football scholarships to play at Dartmouth and the University of Wyoming. He chose the University of Wyoming where he played football and later walked onto the basketball team and played basketball for Wyoming for one year. Bob received a B.S. in English Literature from Wyoming in 1965.

After college, he joined the Peace Corps, and served two years in Turkey where he taught English and coached basketball. Immediately following the Peace Corps, Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea for two years. He received an honorable discharge from the Army in Utah where he was stationed at the Dugway Proving Grounds. He was married on January 24, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary Darroch and they made their home in Laramie, Wyoming where Bob went to graduate school. He received a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Wyoming in 1971. Bob and Mary then moved to Pocatello, Idaho where he taught at Idaho State University. In 1974, they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where Bob was an insurance agent. In 1997, they moved to Sheridan where Bob continued as an insurance agent. He retired in 2007 and continued living in Sheridan until his death. 

Bob was a member of Rotary and the Union Congregational Church. He later converted to Catholicism and was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan. He served on the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Bob was an avid sports fan and was passionate about following his children and grandchildren in all their activities. 

He is survived by his wife Mary McBride of Sheridan; two daughters Shawna McBride and her husband Jamie Crait of Laramie, Wyoming and Kelly McBride Rickett and her husband Jeff of Sheridan; one son Robert Darroch McBride of Buffalo; one brother Scott McBride and his wife Teri of Buffalo; one sister Debby Hunkins and her husband Ray of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Ethan Rickett, Chloe Rickett and Chelsea Crait, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
