English class, English Language Preparatory School,
Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Spring 1966. The
Macy's-suited youth with the blonde hair and shades, seated center left,
is Gordon Taylor, T-8. Note the young pine trees, thousands of them, in
the background. They are now a forest. I remember the names of 75% of
these kids, as well as their home towns. The boy standing on my right,
Hasan, is now a contractor in Toledo, Ohio. Omer, the boy in front of
me, seated on the ground, is now a chemical engineer in the U.S. The
kid on my left, pretending to study, was the biggest goof-off in the
Larry Montgomery with students, Ceyhan 1967
two students standing next to Larry on his left (to right in photo):
Hasan and Gülden. They were in an after school course for students with
excellent grades. Larry doesn't wear that hat anymore.
and Hasan, summer 2014
Gülden owns the pharmacy.
Hasan is a retired bank manager and English teacher.
